EDITORIAL DIRECTION

Working within an established framework, the visual direction for UAB Medicine Magazine supported donor communications and institutional storytelling. Layout, typography and image treatment were developed to present complex medical topics clearly throughout stories and features.

TRANSLATING COMPLEX MEDICINE

Many stories in the magazine addressed complex topics such as genomics, personalized medicine and clinical research. Visuals (including infographics, diagrams, and structured editorial layouts) were used to make technical subjects accessible for alumni, donors, and broader audiences.

ANNUAL REPORT DESIGN

The School of Medicine annual report had to bring together a wide range of priorities—from research and education to patient care, innovation and philanthropy—within a single publication. Color-defined sections gave each area a distinct identity, while a shared geometric motif created continuity across the report and unified its many themes within one visual system.

Infographics were used throughout to communicate milestones, growth, and progress.
